Feed 'Em Soup

Thank you to Derek Gibbs and Chef Alex Smith for spending the day talking with our students about the organization Feed 'Em Soup as a local soup kitchen in a revolutionary style of service to our community.  Chef Alex was also able to shed some light on the behind the scenes experiences of the culinary industry and even offer internship and volunteer opportunities to our students.  To learn more about Feed 'Em Soup please visit their website at

Todd Hendrey

Thank you to Todd Hendry from the Sycamore Confectionary for bringing chocolate to our tables!  Todd was able to give a history of chocolate and  samples of chocolate to our classes.  He brought in a tempering machine to demonstrate white chocolate tempering and guided the students in learning the skill of piping chocolate decorations.  Todd was aslo able to give a lot of information about being a small business owner in the culinary industry and was able to give a lot of one-on-one advice to our management groups with their upcoming semeter projects.

Thank you to Dr. Sharp for coming for a whole day to help the class fry turkeys for their Thanksgiving Feast.  Dr. Sharp stood outside in the cold all day frying a turkey for each class.  The students were able to ask him about his experience with turkey frying and how to smoke a turkey.  Thank you!

The Culinary Arts classes would like to thank Ms. Stephens for taking the time to come into our classroom to demonstrate cake decorating piping skills.  She brought in her professional cake decorating tools to display for the students and was able to give advice for their decorating  ideas for their upcoming decorating  contest.
